For researchers
Rate data for researchers studying the cost of therapy.
RateScope offers free, citation-attributed access to commercial mental health rate benchmarks for academic and policy research. Built from CMS Transparency in Coverage filings — the same machine-readable data payers file under federal authorization.
What approved researchers receive
A clean, documented dataset — not a scrape.
Cell-level benchmark CSV
Per-payer, per-state, per-CPT, per-credential percentile distributions (n, p10–p90) drawn from the same gold-tier facts that back our paid reports.
Methodology appendix
Dedup policy, negotiated_type_mix, source snapshot IDs, and pooling-scope definitions. Designed to be cited in a peer-reviewed methods section.
Citation-ready data dictionary
Field-by-field schema with known limitations (TX-only initially, commercial only, statewide pooling). Linked from every fulfillment email.
Who qualifies
Quality-gated, manually reviewed.
Free for non-commercial academic and policy research. Commercial research firms and consultancies should use our standard paid reports. We accept any email domain but require a verification link (ORCID, Google Scholar profile, faculty page, or working paper) so we can confirm research affiliation. Free-mail submissions get extra review.
